La escuela granadina de Escultura se fue gestando a partir del siglo XVI, hasta definirse plenamente en los siglos XVII y XVIII. La extraordinaria actividad artística desarrollada en la Granada renacentista, con la presencia de grandes artistas nacionales y extranjeros, fue la que consolidó las bases para que surgiera este foco. Clasicismo presente en el contraposto, ropajes y su serenidad. En su rostro, gesto de tristeza enfatizado con la mano derecha en el pecho.
