Joaquín Jovellar y Soler. Militar español. Gobernador y Capitán General de Cuba (1873-1874 y 1876-1878). Presidente del gobierno de España en 1875. Su primer mandato en Cuba se caracterizó por el brutal fusilamiento de los miembros de la expedición del vapor Vurginius, y el segundo por las inmoralidades administrativas durante el gobierno del conde de Valmaseda, y el fin de la Guerra de los Diez Años mediante el Pacto del Zanjón.

Joaquin Jovellar y Soler. Spanish military. Governor and Captain General of Cuba (1873-1874 and 1876-1878). President of the government of Spain in 1875. His first term in Cuba was characterized by the brutal execution of the members of the Vurginius steam expedition, and the second by administrative immoralities during the government of the Count of Valmaseda, and the end of the War of the Ten Years through the Zanjón Pact.
