Very rare bronze inkwell with beautiful patina and natural stone base. By the famous creator of display objects, Alphonse Giroux (1775-1848) . Inkwell representing a loan shark or banker carrying his purse and rubbing his hands before a new business success. Signed on the back: A. GIROUX- PARIS. In a very beautiful preserved condition, the original glass is missing. No noticeable hits or rubbing. Functional tilting lid. A hole present to insert a fountain pen or a stylus.
