En 1982 Divine graba su primer disco, y consigue a lo largo de esa década, con tres álbunes más, un éxito sensacional. Producida por Bobby Orlando, Divine se convirtió en estrella de clubs gracias a sus bailables temas llenos de puro dance y electropop. Sus apariciones en televisión no dejaban indiferente a nadie. Glamurosa, macarra y asquerosa a la vez, Divine protagonizó números por donde pasó.
A principios de los ochenta, en el auge de la música disco y high energy, comienza su carrera como cantante con enorme éxito, alcanzando los primeros lugares con canciones como Native Love, Shoot Your Shot, Shake It Up, You Thin You’re A Man, I´m So Beautiful y Walk Like A Man.
