For sale is Frank Zappa – Studio Tan, originally released in 1978 on Discreet Records. This album is among the works created during a particularly productive, yet conflict-ridden phase of Zappa's career. Due to legal disputes with his record company at the time, Studio Tan was released later and impressively demonstrates how far Zappa was willing to push musical boundaries.

The album contains four long, stylistically diverse pieces.

The opener, "The Adventures of Greggery Peccary," is a 20-minute satire in the form of a rock operetta, full of humor, absurd twists, and complex arrangements.
