Neil formó una nueva banda junto con sus amigos y ex compañeros de banda Jimmy Livingston y Edward Roth. Coffi Hall y David Colin Burt fueron reclutados. La banda ensayó en el sótano de Neil, cortó una demo y se dirigió a Los Ángeles.

La banda tomó el nombre de 'Heather Merrywhether'. Después de su primer concierto,

La banda tocó 'The Whiskey' con Chicago (C.T.A.)

Fueron firmados por Capitol Records. Neil dirigió la banda, y escribió y cantó todas las canciones. Neil tomó el nombre artístico de Neil Merryweather y acortó el nombre de la banda a 'Merryweather'.

'Merryweather' grabó su álbum homónimo y su segundo álbum 'Word of Mouth'.

'Merryweather', a través de su corta historia juntos, interpretó la escena de Los Ángeles encabezando muchas veces 'Thee Experience', 'The Whiskey' con 'Mountain', Newport '69, un festival de rock de tres días en Devonshire Downs con Jimi Hendrix, Credence Clearwater Revival , The Byrds, Marvin Gaye, Joe Cocker, Ike y Tina Turner, y muchos otros. También jugaron en el estadio Balboa con 'Country Joe & The Fish', 'Chicago' y 'Poco'. Y hasta hubo un 'Día de Merryweather' en Universal City donde la banda tocó en la plaza.

Neil dejó la banda poco tiempo después del lanzamiento de su segundo álbum.

Neil Merryweather, bajista y cantante, nació en Toronto (Canada) y grabó su primer single en 1965 con una banda de garage llamada Just Us que cambió su nombre a The Tripp. En 1967 ingresó en las filas de The Flying Circus para emprender en 1968 su carrera en solitario.

Neil put a new band together with his friends and ex-band mates Jimmy Livingston and Edward Roth. Coffi Hall and David Colin Burt were recruited. The band rehearsed in Neil’s basement, cut a demo, and drove to Los Angeles.

The band took the name “Heather Merrywhether”. After their first gig, Livingston was dropped.

The band played “The Whiskey” with Chicago (C.T.A.)

They were signed by Capitol Records. Neil led the band, and wrote and sang all the songs. Neil took the stage name Neil Merryweather and shortened the band’s name to “Merryweather”.

“Merryweather” recorded their self-titled album and their second album “Word of Mouth”.

“Merryweather”, through its short history together, played the LA scene headlining “Thee Experience” many times, “The Whiskey” with “Mountain”, Newport ’69, a three day rock festival at Devonshire Downs with Jimi Hendrix, Credence Clearwater Revival, The Byrds, Marvin Gaye, Joe Cocker, Ike and Tina Turner, and many others. They also played Balboa Stadium with “Country Joe & The Fish”, “Chicago”, and “Poco”. And, there was even a “Merryweather Day” at Universal City where the band played in the square.

Neil left the band a short time after the release of their second album.
