El 1 de junio de 1985, Sting editó su primer disco. "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles" -título que surgió por un sueño del cantante - fue una pieza musical exquisita que sacudió el panorama musical del rock al introducir elementos del jazz no habituales para el género y al apoyarse en una banda que despertó la adoración de crítica y fans. Con Brandord Marsalis en saxo, Kenny Kirkland en teclados, Darryl Jones en bajo y Omar Hakim en batería se conformó la agrupación que grabó el álbum. Esa misma banda - que incluía a las coristas de The Police, Dolette McDonald y Janice Pendarvis - es la que luego saldría de gira en apoyo al disco y que daría lugar al registro del doble CD y película "Bring On The Night".

'Bring on the night' es un album en vivo y un documental centrado en la creación y grabación del primer disco del músico inglés en solitario. La mayoría de las imágenes están centradas en el estudio. El cantante se trasladó hasta una interesante mansión convertida puntualmente en el lugar de trabajo para la creación del album.

Pero el documental no se queda ahí y nos conduce hasta el esperado nacimiento de su hijo y cómo ha trasncurrido la vida de los miembros de su anterior banda "The Police", la cual formó Sting en 1977 junto con Stewart Copeland y Andy Summers y que brindaron grandes éxitos al mundo de la música con míticas canciónes como "Roxanne" o "Cant Stand Losing You". El grupo ganó seis Premios Grammy en la década de los ochenta, lo que les hizo afianzarse como una de las bandas más importantes a nivel internacional.

El director del documental, Michael Apted, al que recordamos por películas como 'Las crónicas de Narnia: La travesía del viajero del alba' o 'El mundo nunca es suficiente' nos introduce en la vida de Sting como nunca antes se había visto.

Bring On the Night is a 1986 live album by Sting recorded over the course of several live shows in 1985 and released in 1986. The title is taken from a song by The Police from their 1979 album Reggatta de Blanc. The songs performed include Sting's early solo material from the studio album The Dream of the Blue Turtles, and from his time with The Police, with a few of the performances played as medleys of the two. The touring band features the prominent jazz musicians Branford Marsalis, Darryl Jones, Kenny Kirkland, and Omar Hakim.

Despite not featuring any hit singles, the album reached number 16 on the UK Album Charts and won Sting a Grammy Award in 1988 for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male.

Bring on the Night is also a 1985 documentary directed by Michael Apted covering the formative stages of Sting's solo career—released as DVD in 2005.
