´This study, completed in 1990, is intended as an overview and introduction to the diverse treasury of pre- and postcontact indigenous Mexican manuscripts, with chapters on materials from the Nahuas, Borgia group, Zapotecs, Mixtecs, Mayas, and other cultures. An update and expansion of the compiler´s famous 1955 essay of a similar nature (see HLAS 22:500).
