Dr. N.C Patra was born & brought up in a remote village of Khadiasole in the district of Mayurbhanj. He did his M.Sc. & Ph. D from the Utkal University. Dr. Patra served about 35 years as a teacher in different colleges of the state, including 7 years of post-graduate teaching experience & finally retired from the B.J.B Autonomous college, Bhubaneswar. After retirement, Dr. Patra has taken up a noble job of writing this book utilizing his experience while teaching the subject in different colleges to the students with various academic backgrounds. In this book the author has tried to bring together a coherent account what he has learnt from the teaching of rudiments of mathematics to his students during the last 35 years. The book is written by an experienced teacher having teaching experience of about 35 years explaining each mathematical concept in a very simple and logical way, so that it will be easily understood by the students of all calibers. Hope, the book will be accepted by students and teachers as well. It is my pleasure to know that Dr. N. C. Patra, a distinguished teacher of mathematics is going to bring out a book for class XI. I have found that each topic is dealt with a step by step conceptually in a coherent manner.
