Excelente pirógrafo con sello DUPRÉ & Co, realizado en la París de mediados de siglo. Un pirógrafo es un instrumento eléctrico dotado de una punta metálica calefactada que permite grabar superficies como madera, cuero, corcho o cartón mediante la aplicación controlada de calor. Al entrar en contacto con el material, la punta quema ligeramente la fibra, creando marcas que sirven para dibujar, sombrear y generar texturas. A mediados del siglo XX, la pirografía fue ampliamente utilizada tanto con fines artísticos y decorativos como educativos y terapéuticos, especialmente en instituciones formativas y de rehabilitación.

En este contexto se enmarca la pieza que presentamos: una interesante máquina de pirograbado de las décadas de 1930–1950, original de época y conservada en buen estado general. El conjunto se presenta en su caja original de madera, que incluye además una hoja explicativa, un elemento poco habitual que incrementa su interés histórico y coleccionista.

Se trata de un pirógrafo antiguo de la firma DUPRÉ & Cie, París, provisto de tres puntas originales. Los pirógrafos de la época solían contar con puntas intercambiables, que permitían adaptar el trazo a diferentes necesidades: puntas finas para líneas precisas, puntas planas para quemados amplios y accesorios específicos para texturas o raspados, ofreciendo así un mayor control del trabajo manual.

En una de las imágenes puede apreciarse una etiqueta metálica fijada sobre una superficie de madera —probablemente el reverso de una obra o de un mueble— en la que se identifica claramente al fabricante y su localización “DUPRÉ & Cie. / 141, Faubourg Saint-Honoré, París”.

Excellent pyrography tool with the DUPRÉ & Co. mark, made in mid-century Paris. A pyrography tool is an electric instrument equipped with a heated metal tip that allows engraving on surfaces such as wood, leather, cork, or cardboard through the controlled application of heat. Upon contact with the material, the tip lightly burns the fibers, creating marks that can be used for drawing, shading, and generating textures. In the mid-20th century, pyrography was widely used for artistic, decorative, educational, and therapeutic purposes, especially in training and rehabilitation institutions.

It is within this context that we find the piece we present: an interesting pyrography machine from the 1930s–1950s, an original from the period and preserved in good overall condition. The set is presented in its original wooden box, which also includes an explanatory sheet, an unusual element that increases its historical and collector's interest.

This is an antique pyrography tool from the firm DUPRÉ & Cie, Paris, equipped with three original tips. Pyrography tools of that era typically featured interchangeable tips, allowing the user to adapt the stroke to different needs: fine tips for precise lines, flat tips for broad burns, and specific accessories for textures or scraping, thus offering greater control over the manual work.

In one of the images, a metal label can be seen affixed to a wooden surface—probably the back of a work of art or piece of furniture—clearly identifying the manufacturer and its location: “DUPRÉ & Cie. / 141, Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris”.
