Descripción:

- Preciosa y espectacular taladradora de arco, hecha de madera y de hierro.

- Las taladradoras de arco son herramientas de perforación prehistóricas. Comúnmente se usaban para hacer fuego por fricción, sin embargo, la misma técnica también se utilizó ampliamente en la perforación aplicada a la carpintería, y otros usos.

- Lo situamos en muy principios del S.XVII pero podría ser anterior.

- El taladro de arco consiste en seis partes: un eje, la masa de inercia o balancín, una broca, un mandril o portabrocas, la cuerda o cordel y un mango de presión.

- Consiste en una broca sujeta a un eje. El eje atraviesa el mango, que se sujeta con ambas manos, y que al presionar hacía abajo y liberar hacia arriba provoca la rotación alternativa del eje. Al girar el eje, con una rotación alternativa, la broca va paulatinamente perforando el material.

- El eje que sujeta a la broca, están hechos de hierro, mientras que el mango de presión y la masa de inercia o balancín, están hechos de madera. El balancín o masa de inercia tiene una banda de hierro que lo rodea. La cuerda es nueva.

- Hecho a mano, totalmente primitivo.

- No se ha localizado ningún distintivo, marca o contraste, que pueda facilitar datos del sitio en que se fabricó, datos del fabricante, así como otros datos.

Conservación y desperfectos:

- La taladradora se encuentra en muy buen estado de conservación.

- Mantiene una espectacular pátina de época.

- La madera tiene grietas, y el hierro está algo oxidado.

- Tiene pequeños golpes y roces debido al tiempo.

- El objeto presenta el desgaste propio de su tiempo.

Description:

- Beautiful and spectacular bow drill, made of wood and iron.

- Bow drills are prehistoric drilling tools. They were commonly used to make fire by friction, however, the same technique was also widely used for drilling applied to carpentry, and other uses.

- We place it in the very early 17th century but it could be earlier.

- The bow drill consists of six parts: a shaft, the inertia mass or rocker arm, a drill bit, a chuck or drill chuck, the cord or string and a pressure handle.

- It consists of a drill bit attached to a shaft. The shaft passes through the handle, which is held with both hands, and pressing down and releasing upwards causes the shaft to rotate alternately. As the shaft rotates, with an alternating rotation, the drill bit gradually drills into the material.

- The shaft that holds the drill bit is made of iron, while the pressure handle and the inertia mass or rocker are made of wood. The rocker arm has an iron band around it. The rope is new.

- Handmade, totally primitive.
