Descripción:

- Espectacular caja tocador joyero completo, con varios secretos y espejo. Incrustaciones de nácar. Forrada con terciopelo morado en perfecto estado.

- La caja está completa, con todos sus complementos en un estado perfecto, sin uso. Mantiene las dos llaves originales. Únicamente tiene el desgaste del tiempo.

- El tocador se divide en varias partes.

- Primero, la caja: es de madera veteada con incrustaciones de nácar en las esquinas, en la parte central superior y en la cerradura. Además, una pequeña manivela de uno de los departamentos también es de nácar.

- En segundo lugar, los recipientes: se compone de cinco francos y dos cajas. Dos de los frascos son circulares y de un tamaño pequeño. Las dos cajas son rectangulares, una más alargada y la otra más ancha. Y en último lugar, tres frascos semi redondos de un tamaño más grande, uno de ellos con las iniciales ‘WJCA’ grabadas en cursiva en la zona superior de la tapadera. Todos los recipientes mantienen sus tapaderas originales y en buen estado.

- En tercer lugar, los utensilios: contiene seis utensilios para distintos usos, todos ellos con mangos de hueso, todos completos y en buen estado. Entre ellos están, una lima, un cortaúñas, un gancho, aparato para las cutículas, un punzón y otro con forma de abridor de botellas. Todos ellos probablemente destinados para la limpieza y mantenimiento de las uñas.

- En cuarto lugar, el espejo: la tapadera se encuentra forrada en su parte interna con terciopelo. En la zona superior tiene una pestaña que, al moverla, cae una tapadera, y aparece otro departamento con dos pestañas que sujetan el espejo. Si las movemos, el espejo sale, lo sacas y tiene su pata trasera para poder colocarlo donde uno quiera. Lo peculiar y curioso es que, en la tapa primera que esconde el espejo, detrás de ella, hay otro pequeño departamento en forma de carpeta, probablemente un secreto donde poder guardar cartas o documentos.

- En quinto lugar, los secretos: Como departamentos secretos contabilizamos tres, más aparte otros tres departamentos quizás no tan secretos.

- Analizamos los departamentos secretos: el antes mencionado para documentos o cartas ubicado en la tapadera superior; cuando se levanta la caja rectangular ancha, justo debajo encontramos un hueco secreto forrado de papel de aluminio; y, por último, en la base de la caja, en uno de los lados, hay un departamento grande que se abre con llave, la cual tenemos en nuestro poder, y al abrirlo descubrimos una bandeja distribuida en seis espacios para joyas, toda ella forrada de terciopelo morado.

- Analizamos los departamentos no tan secretos: la zona delantera, donde se ubican los dos frascos redondos pequeños, hay dos pequeñas asas en los extremos para levantarla, y debajo encontramos un departamento bastante amplio, forrado de papel morado. Al lado de la caja rectangular alargada, en el terciopelo, hay una especie de asa que si la levantas encontramos todos los utensilios del mantenimiento de las uñas. Por último, en el mismo apartado, en el lado derecho hay una pequeña manivela redonda que se levanta y tiene un pequeño departamento para guardar joyas o complementos.

- No se ha localizado ningún distintivo, marca o contraste, que pueda facilitar datos del sitio en que se fabricó, datos del fabricante, así como otros datos.

Conservación y desperfectos:

- La caja se encuentra en perfecto estado de conservación.

- Mantiene una espectacular pátina de época en todos sus elementos.

- Tiene pequeños golpes y roces debido al tiempo.

- El objeto presenta el desgaste propio de su tiempo.

Comentarios:

- Tanto las medidas, como el peso, son aproximados.

Description:

- Spectacular complete jewelry dresser box, with several secrets and mirror. Mother-of-pearl inlays. Lined with purple velvet in perfect condition.

- The box is complete, with all its accessories in perfect condition, unused. It keeps the two original keys. It only has the wear of time.

- The dresser is divided into several parts.

- First, the box: it is made of grained wood with mother-of-pearl inlays in the corners, in the upper central part and in the lock. In addition, a small handle in one of the departments is also made of mother-of-pearl.

- Secondly, the vessels: it consists of five franks and two boxes. Two of the jars are circular and of a small size. The two boxes are rectangular, one more elongated and the other wider. And lastly, three semi-round jars of a larger size, one of them with the initials ‘WJCA’ engraved in italics on the upper area of the lid. All of the jars retain their original lids and are in good condition.

- Thirdly, the utensils: it contains six utensils for different uses, all of them with bone handles, all of them complete and in good condition. Among them are a file, a nail clipper, a hook, a cuticle tool, an awl and another one in the shape of a bottle opener. All of them are probably intended for the cleaning and maintenance of the nails.

- Fourth, the mirror: the lid is lined on the inside with velvet. In the upper area there is a flap that, when moved, drops a lid, and another department appears with two tabs that hold the mirror. If we move them, the mirror comes out, you take it out and it has its back leg to be able to place it wherever you want. The peculiar and curious thing is that, in the first cover that hides the mirror, behind it, there is another small department in the form of a folder, probably a secret where you can keep letters or documents.

- In fifth place, the secrets: As secret departments we count three, plus three other departments, perhaps not so secret.

- We analyze the secret departments: the aforementioned one for documents or letters located on the top lid; when the wide rectangular box is lifted, just below we find a secret hole lined with aluminum foil; and finally, at the base of the box, on one side, there is a large department that opens with a key, which we have in our possession, and when we open it we discover a tray distributed in six spaces for jewelry, all lined with purple velvet.

- We analyze the not so secret departments: the front area, where the two small round jars are located, there are two small handles at the ends to lift it, and underneath we find a fairly large department, lined with purple paper. Next to the elongated rectangular box, in the velvet, there is a kind of handle that if you lift it we find all the utensils for nail care. Finally, in the same section, on the right side there is a small round handle that lifts up and has a small department to store jewelry or accessories.

Conservation and damage:

- The box is in perfect state of preservation.

- It maintains a spectacular period patina in all its elements.

- It has small bumps and scratches due to time.
