Impresionante espejo francés de estilo Regencia realizado a principios del siglo XIX en Francia, época en la que se recuperaron algunos de los estilos del pasado francés. La Regencia francesa hace referencia al periodo posterior a la muerte de Luis XIV, entre el 1 de septiembre de 1715 y el 15 de febrero de 1723, durante el cual el rey Luis XV era menor de edad y Francia estuvo gobernada por el regente Felipe de Orleans.

Este exuberante espejo azogado presenta una forma rectangular rodeada por un marco exquisitamente dorado con oro fino y sumamente ornamentado. El marco no es uniforme en su anchura; se amplía y se decora de manera elaborada en las esquinas y particularmente en la parte superior, donde se desarrolla un copete o remate ornamentado de gran tamaño, que presenta en su zona central una copa de la abundancia con flores que resalta del fondo plateado; enmarcado por multitud de rocallas que crean una suerte de arquitectura efímera. Recuerda a los imponentes espejos de consola o de pared palaciegos del siglo XVIII.

A stunning French Regency style mirror made in the early 19th century in France, a time when some of the styles of the French past were revived. The French Regency refers to the period after the death of Louis XIV, between 1 September 1715 and 15 February 1723, during which King Louis XV was a minor and France was governed by the regent Philippe d'Orléans.

This exuberant silvered mirror has a rectangular shape surrounded by an exquisitely gilded frame with fine gold and highly ornamented. The frame is not uniform in width; it widens and is elaborately decorated in the corners and particularly in the upper part, where a large ornate crest or finial develops, which has in its central area a cup of abundance with flowers that stands out from the silver background; framed by a multitude of rocailles that create a kind of ephemeral architecture. Reminiscent of the imposing console or palatial wall mirrors of the 18th century.
