Elegante estantería o étagère en madera de caoba, original del periodo eduardino inglés. El mueble de esta época alcanza una gran simplicidad de líneas y una decoración muy sobria y estudiada, donde la estructura se deja a la vista, constructiva y estética a la vez, utilitaria y bella. En este caso, se constituye únicamente de las tres baldas que conforman la estantería, los soportes verticales de los laterales y las patas, los únicos elementos que presentan una ligera ornamentación, basada en entrantes y salientes de formas curvas.

La época o era eduardina del Reino Unido hace referencia al reinado de Eduardo VII, entre 1901 y 1910, hijo de la reina Victoria. No obstante, el periodo se extendió hasta el final de la Primera Guerra Mundial, en 1918. El nuevo rey, aficionado a los viajes, estableció en la élite el gusto de la Europa continental.

El mobiliario de dicho periodo se caracteriza por el énfasis en la elegancia y la sobriedad, opuesta al lujo y la opulencia del mueble francés. La madera de caoba se estableció como el material predominante, introducida en el país durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. Se empleaba ya sin decoraciones de bronce superpuestas, como en épocas anteriores.
