Es decir, no alude a una manufactura en especial, sino a la producción ejecutada por más de treinta fabricantes dentro de los límites de la capital francesa, desde mediados de 1700 hasta finales del Segundo Imperio (1870) aproximadamente. Los objetos de porcelana antigua de París son los más deseados por los coleccionistas y están presentes en muchos museos del mundo.
