Descripción:

- Medalla de San Andrés. Colegio Andresiano.

- En el anverso aparece: San Andrés cogiendo la cruz, rodeado de un bonito ribete floral.

- En el reverso aparece: “VALENTI. SCHO. PIAR COLLEGIUM ANDRESIANUM”. “Amar la escuela del Colegio Andresiano”. En el centro de la medalla las letras AM, (Ave María) y MPOY.

- Canto: Liso sin ninguna inscripción.

- Las Escuelas Pías de Valencia se fundaron en 1735, bajo el patrocinio del Arzobispo de Valencia, D. Andrés Mayoral Alonso de Mella, y de D. Felipe Lino de Castelví y Ximenez de Urrea, IV Conde de Carlet.

- Por Real Decreto de Carlos III de fecha 7 de mayo 1760, se autorizaba a las Escuelas Pías a crear el Seminario Escolapio de Nobles, y en 1763 empezó a funcionar como tal Seminario; fue catalogado como uno de los mejores centros de enseñanza del momento. Por la intervención tan decisiva que tuvo D. Andrés Mayoral en su fundación, tomó el nombre de Colegio Andresiano.

- La calidad artística de la medalla es alta, ejecutada mediante un estilo muy personal y con gran soltura, consiguiéndose en los altorrelieves unos efectos armónicos y expresivos.

Conservación y desperfectos:

- La Medalla, considerada globalmente, se encuentran en buen perfecto de conservación.

- Tiene una preciosa pátina de época. Con varios golpes y roces, de poca importancia.

- Tanto el Anverso como el Reverso de la Medalla presenta un desgaste bajo y uniforme.

Comentarios:

- Tanto las Medidas, como el Peso, son aproximados.

- Muy interesante como pieza de colección y como elemento decorativo.

- Los tonos de los colores de las fotos no son iguales a los tonos de los colores reales.

Description:

- Medal of Saint Andrew. Andresian College.

- On the obverse side: St. Andrew holding the cross, surrounded by a nice floral border.

- On the reverse: "VALENTI. SCHO. PIAR COLLEGIUM ANDRESIANUM". "To love the school of the Andresian College". In the centre of the medal the letters AM, (Ave Maria) and MPOY.

- Edge: Plain without any inscription.

- The Pious Schools of Valencia were founded in 1735, under the patronage of the Archbishop of Valencia, D. Andrés Mayoral Alonso de Mella, and of D. Felipe Lino de Castelví y Ximenez de Urrea, IV Count of Carlet.

- By Royal Decree of Charles III dated 7th May 1760, the Pious Schools were authorised to create the Piarist Seminary of Nobles, and in 1763 it began to function as such a Seminary; it was catalogued as one of the best teaching centres of the time. Due to the decisive role played by D. Andrés Mayoral in its foundation, it took the name of Colegio Andresiano.
