Curiosa pareja de colgadores o alzapaños para cortinas de bronce, de finales del siglo XIX, que cuentan con una medalla con la efigie del Príncipe Alberto de Sajonia-Coburgo y Gotha (1819-1861). Se estima que esta medalla pudo ser un objeto conmemorativo de la Gran Exposición de 1851 en el Crystal Palace.

En el anverso de las medallas aparece representado el perfil izquierdo del Principe Alberto, rodeado de una especie de corona de laurel, y sobre él, la inscripción “His Royal Highness Prince Albert” (Su Alteza Real el Principe Alberto). Cuentan con unas varas de bronce que sirven para instalarse en el muro y poder colgar las piezas ya que separan la medalla de la pared unos 5 cm.

Este tipo de medallas solían acuñarse para conmemorar eventos importantes o figuras destacadas, en este caso la Gran Exposición en el Crystal Palace de Hyde Park, en Londres de 1851. El propósito de esta exposición, ideada por el propio príncipe consorte, era mostrar los últimos avances en arte, ingeniería y ciencia de Gran Bretaña pero también de otros países. A curious pair of bronze curtain hangers or tiebacks, from the late 19th century, featuring a medal bearing the effigy of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1819-1861). It is believed that this medal may have been a commemorative object for the Great Exhibition of 1851 at the Crystal Palace.
