Magnífico aplique francés realizado en ormolú, o bronce dorado al mercurio, siguiendo el clásico estilo Luis XVI. Estructura de base cruciforme, con bordes trabajados en curvas y contracurvas. La parte central está decorada con motivos florales simétricos que parecen irradiar desde el núcleo. Los detalles ornamentales están cuidadosamente cincelados, con patrones de hojas y flores en relieve que cubren toda la superficie.

Para algunos autores, el Luis XVI es un estilo de marcada tendencia “femenina”, e incluso debió llevar el nombre de “María Antonieta”. Contrasta con el Luis XV por su sencillez, se vuelve a apreciar el rigor de las formas geométricas y las líneas rectas, inspiración que recibe directamente de la arquitectura clásica. Se caracteriza por la ligereza, la armonía y la proporción, dejando a un lado la pesadez y el exceso de los estilos a los que sigue. Se erige como un estilo más discreto y elegante que su antecesor.

Magnificent French wall lamp made of ormolu, or mercury-gilded bronze, following the classic Louis XVI style. The base is cruciform, with edges worked in curves and counter-curves. The central part is decorated with symmetrical floral motifs that seem to radiate from the core. The ornamental details are carefully chiseled, with patterns of leaves and flowers in relief that cover the entire surface.

For some authors, Louis XVI is a style with a marked “feminine” tendency, and should even have been named “Marie Antoinette”. It contrasts with Louis XV due to its simplicity, and the rigor of geometric shapes and straight lines can be appreciated again, inspiration that it receives directly from classical architecture.
